Google the globe

When I first saw a link to Google Earth on Google's home page, I thought that maybe they had finally taken over as we expected.

While that day is surely coming, the link was much more interesting. Google created a program not unlike all those satellite image sites, only, well, Googlier.

You can search for just about any address (with only some minor inaccuracies found thusfar). And tell me you don't feel like you're the special effects coordinator of a summer spy movie when you call up an address and watch the zoom go from the globe to your block.

You can upgrade to fancier, "pro" versions of the program - you know, professional time wasters - for some cash, but the basic version is free. You definitely need a broadband and a computer with at least a little horsepower. That's you. Give it a whirl.
